Die Frage, ob die Zweisprachigkeit von Migranten eine positive, individuell wie gesellschaftlich nützliche Kompetenz ist, war und ist umstritten. Die Tagung bietet ein Forum für den interdisziplinären und internationalen Austausch über neueste Forschungsergebnisse zu dieser Frage – und damit auch: zur Versachlichung der Auseinandersetzungen über den »Streitfall Zweisprachigkeit«.
The question whether or not bilingualism of migrants is a beneficial and useful competence both for the individual and for society, was and is controversial. The symposium offers a forum for international and interdisciplinary exchange of the newest research findings on this question — and thus will contribute to making the dispute on the »Bilingualism Controversy« more objective.
